Jason's Friends

Every year, the Great American Cowboy partners with the Jason’s Friends Foundation to shine a spotlight on a special child impacted by childhood cancer. Our heartfelt mission is to immerse these brave young souls in the rich tapestry of our western heritage. For one magical day, they get to step into the boots of a real cowboy or cowgirl, complete with full attire generously provided by Murdoch’s.

Jason’s Friends Foundation is currently assisting 155 Wyoming families whose children suffer from life threatening childhood cancers and brain or spinal cord tumors. They provide critical financial assistance, advocacy, and encouragement to kids like Brooklynn, our 2023 recipient.

17th Annual Tribute to The Great American Cowboy

Don’t miss out on the most electrifying event of the year—our award-winning “A Tribute to the Great American Cowboy PRCA Rodeo” is back on November 2, 2024! After a pause due to the pandemic, we’ve returned stronger than ever, and we can’t wait to welcome you back to the heart-pounding action.

Our Origin:

A Tribute to Chris LeDoux

Founded in 2005 as a tribute to the late Chris LeDoux—artist, musician, and rodeo World Champion—our rodeo quickly gained recognition. In the same year, it was awarded the PRCA’s Small Indoor Rodeo of the Year, standing out among 740 rodeos. However, at the request of the LeDoux family, we removed Chris’s name in 2011.

Evolution and Resilience:

A Tribute to the Great American Cowboy

Since 2011, our rodeo has been rebranded as “A Tribute to the Great American Cowboy,” honoring cowboys of all stripes, including many World Champions and NFR qualifiers. We also pay tribute to our Military Troops and First Responders. Although the Covid Pandemic led to a hiatus from 2020-2022, we are back, stronger and better than ever.
